The increase of brutality in nature comes with the complication of its organization

Our observations: the function of devouring and parasitizing is inherent only in living matter. There is no such function in inanimate nature. There is in inanimate nature an inexorably irreconcilable struggle for living space, for a place under the sun, however, it does not carry such tragic properties of brutality and devouring, as in living nature.

For example, there are parasitic minerals that use someone else’s ready-made crystal lattice to build their structure. But in the mineral kingdom, all this happens amicably and by mutual consent during millions of years of crystal growth.

Plates collide, continents spread out, smoothly sliding over basalts, geosynclines, bleating from the strain, bend, mountains rise up, “rocks fool” (O. Mandelstam), and what of it? It’s just the nature and property of Mother Earth.

Elementary particles annihilate each other nicely and die, but they do not give up, giving birth to new particles, and all this is not to the detriment of a good mood. Sodium chlorine submissively dissolves in water and does not complain to anyone about it. Because it’s necessary.

The brutal attitude to reality appeared with the complication of the organization of matter and, first of all, with the appearance of living cellular structures. They were constantly missing something, they looked around and began to devour and rake under themselves everything that was lying around badly.

There was always a brutal: “Y-y–y, it is mine!” There was always a concern for the preservation of its population, species, genus, offspring, for the prolongation of pleasure of life in this world, but only for its own; however, it went and will always go at the expense of others, because there is not enough of its own material for its own, and where to get it?…

The simplest living organisms, viruses, give us a good illustration of a simple, unpretentious, disarming atrocity. The genetic material with which our scoundrel successfully reproduces at the expense of the cells attacked by him is reliably covered by the thickness of the protein shell. The symmetry of the viral particle (icosahedron or dodecahedron) ensures its stability in everyday storms and troubles during temperature changes and jumps and in acid rain environments.

The golden currency reserve of the genetic material of the virus resides behind the 7th seals under a thick protein armor (unauthorized entry is prohibited), but for the time being. As soon as the external proteins on the surface of the viral particle feel that it smells fried, that there is something to profit from and multiply a little, the ”brain center” of the virus gives commands – “Well, attach yourself! Get in there!”.

Entropic, thermodynamic perspective: nature, as such, seems to resist the complexity of the organization and connects the function of brutality and devouring whenever it comes to living matter, with the aim of leveling (zeroing out the swelling) in the system “chaos ->structure-> chaos”. Matter self-organizes and hierarchizes to the point of losing its pulse, but only in order to eventually, after some predetermined, permitted period, joyfully commit hara-kiri and masochistically perish, self-destruct.

Time, as such, can also be considered as a huge, gradually and systematically eroding everything, devouring everything Virus. At least, at the level of living individuals, the destroying, leveling function of Time is clearly visible. This is obviously a purely literary analogy. Time, its physical nature, still remains a mystery.

Yes, there are still many unsolved problems and riddles in natural science, my friend Horatio!
